Day 7 : Mission and Snoring

You kind of have to go with the flow on mission trips, not allowing things which would be an annoyance at home, becoming a problem when you're away.  Snoring is one such thing.

Day 6 : Vision Day

We left the comfort of Mount Elgon Hotel to begin the car journey back to Kampala in time for a vision day with An Open Door management team.  Being the smallest person on the trip I volunteered to sit in the middle back seat of the car, which is fine for a 20 minute journey but not the best thing in the world for a five hour journey - feels like you have ridden a horse for a day or two by the end of it.

Day 5 : Lost in Translation ?

On the plane travelling from Amsterdam to Uganda, Gareth my travel companion and I were just shooting the breeze talking when something he said triggered my Sunday morning message at Pearl Haven Christian Centre in Mbale.

Day 4 : Beef Samosa's

In the accommodation where we have been staying in Kampala, there is a very steep incline from the road to the gate, which makes both the entry and exit very entertaining indeed.  After the staff meeting Pastor Okumu, who chairs the board of AOD, stayed with us overnight in order to drive us to Mbale for the weekend.

Day 3 : The Banana Split

After a twelve hour day with several meetings, heavy rain, lots of driving Peter Wooding uttered the now famous Kampala phrase - I need a Banana Split.  Not the kind of thing we thought the missions house could muster, but after rummaging through the fridge, he found Ice Cream, sliced up a banana and even had chocolate sauce to add for good measure....  Didn't find any sprinkles though, sometimes life is hard....

Day 2 : Passion for the Children

It was great to end the evening last night with a skype call to Rebekah, who was busy working back in the UK and couldn't come on this trip.   Apparently I woke Gareth Killa (Who I share a room with) up this morning, with a most peculiar high pitched snore.  Of course I denied it as I didn't hear it myself.

Day 1 : The Long Journey to Uganda.

Having left Birmingham at 2.30am to catch a 6am flight through Amsterdam, then Kigali (Rwanda) we landed safely in Entebbe, Uganda around 10.30pm.  Jeff Thompson from www.mercyprojects.com had it worse his was a 37hr journey from Los Angeles.
